Creative Team Retro Flowers Art Journal
by Creative Team member Dani ChoateSupplies:
White card
Dylusions Dyalog background journal
Helmar 450 glue
Posca Paint pens - Any
acrylic paint with a small fine brush could also be used (yellow, emerald,
apple green)
Instructions:
Begin by painting your entire page with black
gesso and waiting for it to completely dry. If you happen to have a blue
background you can paint with a little less coverage to show a bit of blue
through especially at the edges
Grab your 'Retro style' stencil. Using washi
tape mask off some of the columns to
give you stems of differing heights. This will add some interest to your page
and allow you to get more flowers onto the page
Use the 'retro' looking stencil and the
lavender Shabby relief paste to give you your lilac stems
Using paint pens (in 2 different greens) or
acrylic paints with a small brush, paint or draw some small leaves along the
light purple stems
On a seperate piece of white card stock stencil
the granite relief paste through a floral stencil. This paste needs to be
applied quite thickly and with a bolder stencil (rather than a fine, delicate
one)
Once totally dry, fussy cut the granite flowers
out to give you a selection of single flowers with SUPER texture!!Use scribble sticks or watercolours to colour the individual flower edges with blue, turquoise, lime green and yellow to give you a gradiated effect, from bottom to top on all your flowers.
Using double sided tape or strong glue, attach
the flowers to your stems. Make sure the edges do not entirely stick down ads
this will give the flower an increased 3D effect
If one of your flowers happens to be placed
across the fold in the page you will have to carefully cut the flower down the
middle. This should give your page enough wriggle room to actually be able to
fold closed
I have also added a small sentiment on the side
of the page "SHINE BRIGHT"
