Creative Team - Floral Watercolour Card

Creative Team - Floral Watercolour Card

By Creative Team Member - Yoonsun Hur

Supplies:

White card stock
Paint brush
Fine tip glue pen
Die Cutting and Embossing Machine

Instructions:

For my card today, I am featuring the C4U Rose Embossing Folder, the C4U Matted HappyDie.

I started by dry embossing roses on watercolour paper panel using the C4U Rose embossing folder. I then inked all over the embossed panel with Tattered Rose, Antique Linen Distress inks and round ink blending tool.

After ink blending, I coloured the roses & leaves with Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, Crushed Olive Distress inks and a wet paint brush.

I die cut the word “happy” from white card stock using the C4U Matted Happy die 5 times, and then stacked them up with find tip glue pen - I made it thicker like chipboard.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!!
Hugs,
Yoonsun

Creative Team - Blue Butterfly Tag

Blue Butterfly Girl - Large Mixed Media Tag

By Creative Team Member - Dani Choate

Supplies:

Drafting or thick tracing paper
Ranger - Inkssentials craft tags - Black Size #12
Cocoa Vanilla - Wild at Heart - Double Dot paper
Bohemian dreams - Vellum accents
Kaisercraft - acrylic paint "Antique White" (can use various shades to make skin coloured paint)
Stencil Girl - Traci Bautista - Deconstructed Zinnia stencil
Sharpie - Extra fine - black & white
Prismacolor pencils (or any good coloured pencils)
Kuretake - Gansai Tambi - silver calligraphy watercolour
450 glue
round brush - size 8
ribbons

Instructions:

- Rough sketch a face onto the black tag in light pencil
- Fill in the face and neck  shape with a 'skin colour' paint as background
- Use pencils to shade out the face and add features
- Use extra fine black Sharpie for details & extra fine white Sharpie for highlights.
- Using tracing paper to give you the shape, cut out the Cocoa Vanilla Double Dot blue paper to use as a blackout background (this should hide any rogue sketch lines)
- Use silver watercolour to add waves or texture lines to the hair
- Mount the tag onto black card with a 2mm border
- Separately, onto the thick drafting paper, using the Stencil Girl stencil, stencil 3x flowers
         1- using Diamond paste
2 - using Style matt paste
3 - using glitter fabric paste

- Wait for these to be fully dry and fussy cut them out. However, make sure to cut the Matt paste Zinnia down by one petal around the circumference so it is a smaller flower and the Diamond paste Zinnia down by 2 petals so it is an even smaller flower
- Mount all three flowers in size order using dimensional squares to pop-up each layer
- Glue the centre of this flower stack to the hair of the girl making sure it is approximately within the centre of her beehive hair-do
- using glue, attach the first 3 large blue flowers. Then add the next 3 smaller cream flowers

- Attach all other flowers in a diagonal movement from the top left hand corner down to her right ear

- Mix two colours of Cadence Mixed Media Spray and use like ink to give some shading and dimenion to the edges of her hair

- Using the same ink and a size #8 round brush paint some leaf fronds onto tracing or drafting paper (this may take some practise but you can always use these extras on another project)

- Fussy cut the best of the fronds out
- Tuck the leaves in, around and under the bottom half of the flower stack
- Add three Cocoa Vanilla vellum butterflies. Only attach with glue using the middle line of the piece so that the butterflies look like they are flying
- Finish off the entire tag with coordinating ribbon

Meet our Creative Team!

Thank you to everyone who applied to be on our first ever Creative Team. We had lots of applications to choose from. We have chosen 5 very creative ladies who we feel will create some amazing things to show and inspire you. Lets meet them:

Helen Cooke

I have been crafting for over 20 years and am primarily
a card maker, although I also enjoy getting arty and painty in my art journal; and love making mini albums from scratch. I have taught different classes over the years and am currently enjoying the new Distress Oxides!

Cheryl Peterie

I am a devoted wife of almost 23 years, a caring mother of three, a little bit of a crazy cat lady and a passionate crafter! My journey started back in 2006 when I contributed to an anniversary scrapbook and after that I was hooked. I have been published in magazines etc with my card making and have run many workshops. I am very excited to be sharing my creativity with you all!

Yoonsun Hur

I am a graphic designer but my real passion is making
cards. I just love working with stamps, inks, die cuts, paper, punches, watercolours etc. I have worked on many other design teams and can’t wait to get started at Catchy Crafts!

Dani Choate

I am a mixed media artist, illustrator and art journaler from Sydney. After studying Graphic Design in the early 90s I spent the next 12 years immersed in the Natural Health & Alternative Therapies industries. When my children were small I was inspired once again to return to art making. These were adventures in soft toy design, zine editions, lino & gocco printing, ATC & ACEOs, and a turn at children's fabric design. My current work is whimsical, illustrative, feminine and often full of playful colours & pattern.

Linda Drynan

Wife and Mother, I started card making about 14 years ago whilst living in Sydney and haven't stopped yet! I love all things involving paper! Mixed media and off the page too but card making remains my favourite. My cards are usually classic and simple as I post them around the world.
