Gelatos & Stencils

We love mixed media and especially love Gelatos (we now have them for sale as individual colours as well as sets). They are so easy to use and our teachers use them in a variety of classes. We don't have any videos of our own teachers at the moment, so we are sharing this cool tutorial:

If you would like to see our range of Gelatos, we have them here
our stencils are available here

Magicals Mystery Tour

Dina loves using Magicals by Lindy's Stamp Gang and has demonstrated them at the shows.

Not everyone can get to the shows or see the demo's, so we thought we'd share a bit about them here :

Magicals are little pots of powdered paints, where the pigments are activated by water (or other liquid).  Some Magicals have gorgeous sparkly mica in them, others are ‘flat’ ie have no shimmer, and some of the newer colours are creamy – all types have multiple uses.

They are beautiful to work with, but there are a few things you should know about them, such as, you can see a variety of colours when you haven’t mixed them enough.  To get the smoothest and most ‘true’ colour from your Magicals, you should mix the powder with water. Not the whole jar, just mix a little of the powder at a time, and only as you need it. Make sure to mix well and you will get beautiful consistent colour every time.

If your Magicals are missing their sparkle – CHECK carefully before you purchase, as not all Magicals are shimmery – some are ‘flat’ it will say this on the lid and they will be called FLAT Magicals when you purchase them.

and here is a video made by Kate Palmer (From Lindys Stamp Gang Design Team) showing 6 ways to use Magicals:

Now that you know a bit about these gorgeous colour pots, they are available here

Clever Customers

We really have some amazing customers who are not only crafty but also very clever. Jenny Fussell couldn't find the right pathway stamp to use with this cute couple (Penny Black - Summer Love), so she got her husband to photograph one when they were out at Fagan Park and she used the photo as the background. Just perfect!!

New Lawn Fawn

Our latest shipment of Lawn Fawn stamps and matching dies has meant a shuffle in the shop as there was just too much for where we had them..not that they will last long on the rack as the staff were drooling over them as they were putting them out .

WHAT I DISCOVERED AT CHA 2013

I will  be posting some of the items that I discover at CHA this year.  Some of them are not new but I may just have started paying attention to them or maybe found new ways of using them.  I will share them with you and hope you get something out of them too.

TSUKINEKO PRODUCTS
I spent 1 whole day doing a Tsukineko class and the following is the highlights of things that got me going again

1)  GOOSEBUMPS by Tsukineko will definetely give you goosebumps.  We have had these in store for about 6 weeks however today was my first chance to use them.  I LOVE THEM.  They give such a textrure that I now have to have them all.  You can spray directly on paper for a shinny bumpy effect or through a stencil.  The goosebumps then act as a resist to other inks and dies and you can create amazing effects.

There is also now a new bauber top that is ideal for applying goosebumps to your stamps and stamping with it.  (check the URL provided for full details and samples of goosebumps)
http://www.tsukineko.com/pdf/GB_techniques.pdf

Look out for a demo on these when I get back to Sydney.

2) ALL PURPOSE INK - great ink for using on canvases, fabric and paper.  Highly pigmented so a very small amount goes a long way.  We had fun using it with shaving cream to create tie die fabric and marbled paper.

3) DELICATA - The best gold pad EVER

4) MEMENTO LUXE - same colours as memento however now in pigment ink.  This ink has a special formulation that can be embossed and can also be used on fabric and canvases.  You wil have to wait until JUNE for this new product but it will be a much needed product in the range.
