Creative Team Ornament Shaker Card

Creative Team Ornament Shaker Card

by Creative Team member Kathy MacDonald

Supplies:

Nuvo Hexagon Confetti/Green Moss and Gold/Multi coloured small sequins

Instructions:

Paint wooden embellishment with the Cadence paint, leave to dry.
Score the white card 10.5 mm along the long side and fold in half burnishing fold with bone folder.
For card front, fold one piece of red card in half and cut to a matt of 10.5x15 mm. Use one.
Apply C4U Double sided tape 100mmx20m the back of all papers but not the acetate.
Cut 1 Frosty Border die and 3 Dangling Ornament dies in white sparkle paper, trim where necessary. Remove release paper placing Frosty border on card front and press in place. Place Ornament dies on card front and die cut. Adhere acetate at the back of these die cuts. Remove release paper on white glitter ornaments and carefully ‘fit’ shapes onto acetate backgrounds.
Turn red mat to back. Create ‘cells’ for shaker pieces by sectioning each ornament using foam double sided tape. Add the same tape to the 4 outside edges.
Using baby talc, corn flour or an embossing buddy tool rub over acetate to reduce the static cling for shaker pieces. Fill each bauble area with beads/sequins/metallic confetti in either different colours or the same colour. Carefully remove release paper from foam tape and press card front to rear of sequin filled red mat.
On the front using liquid glue, add ‘Merry Christmas’ embellishments to lower edge of red matt.
Adhere card front to card body using double sided tape.

Creative Team Christmas Night Art Journal Page

Creative Team Christmas Night Art Journal Page

by Creative Team member Dani Choate

Supplies:

Card stock - white, lime green, dark blue, turquoise, grass green, xmas green, light blue, orange, pink, red & yellow
Tombow - Mono liquid glue

Instructions:

- Starting with an open double page, paint a single yellow circle using Dina Wakley Heavy Body acrylic paint in 'Lemon'. Place the circle in the upper middle of the double page across the centre fold. This will be your moon
- Beginning at the outer edges, paint black gesso in toward the moon leaving a rough circular section around the moon blank. Keep this blank area rough with feathered edges so you can blend the next lighter colour
- Paint the remaining area toward the moon with Dina Wakley heavy body acrylic in 'Night'
- Using white gesso, watered down if necessary and a small brush, tape the stem of the brush to create light splatters to indicate stars in the night sky
- Cut some dies...
- Using Crafts 4U 'Houses' die cut x3 sets - x1 in orange; x1 in pink; x1 in red card stock. Choose one of each house design in a different colour for each. Back these three with yellow card behind all windows.
- Next using the 'Funky Xmas Trees' die. Choose the three trees without stars on top - diagonal lines; circles; plain triangle
- cut these trees out in multiple colours and texture-  royal blue glitter card - bermuda blue glitter card - xmas green glitter card -  lime green, dark blue, turquoise, grass green, xmas green, light blue card stock   ...you may need more than one of each colour also.

- Separately, you will need 2 sheets of plain white card in A4 sizing
- Using TCW stencil 'Mini North Star', Apply Cadence Transparent Relief Paste through the stencil then cover with lime green laser glitter  on one sheet & turquoise laser glitter on the second sheet
- Once dry you should have two lovely glittery starred paper that you can put through your die cutting machine. With this decorated card cut x3 plain triangle trees out of each colour.
- Lay out all the trees randomly and mix colours and textures evenly between both sides so the design is balanced
- Arrange the three small houses directly under the moon. Trees should be situated on either side extending out to the outer edges at the base of the page but thinning out toward the top so only a couple of tree points are at the top
- A quote can then be stamped in the centre. However, here I have chosen to simply hand write the first line of the poem... " 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house..."

SUPPLIES

Dylusions Dyalog background journal
Heidi  Swapp - patterned paper - Hawthorne "Dreamscape"
Kaisercraft - sticker sheet 'FACTORY 42'
Tombow Mono liquid glue

Instructions:

Begin with the Heidi Swapp paper and cut a piece from the 12" square that will fit the entire Dylusions Dylaog journal page
From this piece carefully cut along come of the lines, removing sections of the map that leave  whole circular inner sections intact

Using these outtakes as templates, cut tan card that is the same size to fit into the holes that are now on the page

Next cut away a small amount again from the outtakes so that the next template to be used will be smaller and sit within the tan card outline. This can be done with the blue card behind if your scissors are sharp enough to cut a clean edge for both pieces of card, otherwise, once cut, use the new smaller template to mark out the blue card and cut out

Place and raise up the blue card with foam. this will begin to give some dimension to the page

One last time, cut the Heidi Swapp outtakes to an even smaller size. This will be attached using foam tape again so that the white topographic map piece will sit above the blue card

Add some Umber Scribble stick colour, or watercolour to the edges of the tan card where it will join the Heidi Swapp paper to give a slight shade to the edge. This could also be edged with a blending tool before glueing down also.

Now that you have the pieces ready, glue the topographic Heidi Swapp background to the journal page.

Next glue the 3 teired tan/blue/topographic pieces into their corresponding areas just as if completeing a jigsaw puzzle.

Cut a small car using the Crafts4U die set  using brown glitter card stock

Cut a word from the Kaisercraft sticker sheet and make into a flag. Edge with dark stamp ink and glue just under the back of the car.

Using foam tape attach the little car to a suitable curve on the page

I have added a quote that says:

" YOU MUST GO ON ADVENTURES TO FIND WHERE YOU BELONG" ~ Sue Fitzmaurice

Edge the entire Art Journal page in dark brown, dark blue or black ink pad

Place some double sided tape on the front panel as shown & attach the background mat to the base card.

Die cut the Diamond frame on to a piece of A5 white card, cut off the right side & lightly blend with Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap.

From the Pen & Ink paper pad cut a background panel to 9.7cm x15cm distress the edges & blend with Distress Ink - Frayed Burlap, adhere the cut piece of diamond frame using glue only along the border edges. Attach a piece of ribbon along the bottom then attach the panel to the card front.

Base Stopper

·         Cut a 4.2cm x 5.8cm panel from a leftover piece of the same paper used as background(NB: pattern will be in different direction) distress & blend the edges.
·         Cut a 4.6cm x 9.2cm mat from the coordinating paper pad

Adhere the above three panels to each other leaving an even border & attach to the inside base.

Apply some 100mm x 20mm double sided tape to the A5 - White Card die cut the lamp post (a shim maybe needed due to the thickness of the tape & card) Peel the backing off the tape side, using a craft tray apply the black glitter & tap off excess

         ·          Distress the edges of the bingo card(from the collectables pack) & attach to a brown mat also distressing the edges.
         ·          Place some foam tape to the back of the clock(from the collectables pack) & the "for someone very special" sentiment (from the paper pad).

Attach the tag under the diamond frame, then attach the bingo card & clock over the top on an angle. Mount the lamp post with foam tape & place to the left of the clock, next adhere one flower & two leaves from the Little Birdie Renae - Dusty Rose flower pack.

Last mount the "Best wishes" sentiment to the card front & the "for someone very special" sentiment to the base stopper. (NB: cream coloured copy paper can be used as an insert)
